When Purdue University master’s student Marissa Cubbage couldn’t collect lake whitefish samples during the pandemic, she pivoted to collaborate with the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (LTBB). LTBB provided larval fish samples that they had gathered between 2015 and 2019 to Cubbage, who assessed their diets. Through this process of co-creating knowledge, Cubbage created the “Coregonids in Northern Lake Michigan 1836 Treaty Waters” outreach material to share the research results with LTBB.
